Cereal Challenge Provides 7,000 boxes for Community Food Cupboards – WAGM

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) – Community food cupboards in the county empty everyday.

Every month a local business sponsors ACAP’s food cupboard, and this month Thompson Financial got creative with their effort to keep the cupboard full.

“So Thompson financial group challenged Smith’s farm to a cereal box collection,” said Emily Smith, general manager of Smith’s Farm Inc. “It was a well fought battle, and in the end, the winners are the food pantries.”

Yesterday, Thompson was announced the winner, and Friday, Smith’s Farm has to make the winning team breakfast.

The two companies gathered over 7,000 boxes of cereal, a food that was chosen because it can be prepared by both children and adults.

Thompson Financial’s sponsorship lasts through March, but anyone can drop food off at the community cupboard to help someone in need.
