Laramie County Habitat for Humanity celebrates over fifty houses built, launches ReStore

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) – Habitat for Humanity has built over 50 houses in Laramie County, thanks to the help of local volunteers, donations and partnerships.

“When the homeowners feel the love they’re getting from the community and their new neighbors, and by neighbors I mean in the sense of we’re all neighbors in our community in Cheyenne. And they just see people are really rooting for us and now we have this home that we own and we are paying for it and our payments are helping build for the next family like us. It’s a big deal. It’s real cool way that we do things,” said Jen Solis, Development Director.

Aside from home-building, Habitat for Humanity also does house repairs. They help repair roofs, mold and structural dilapidation. Several local businesses that source their wood, insulation and other building materials sometimes donate to the cause and help raise money.

Habitat for Humanity is excited for the grand-opening of ReStore, a place for people to donate appliances they no longer need, and to go toward people who do need them.

“What we do is recycle, restore and re-purpose donated items for other people to enjoy in their homes,” said Kate Wright, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity.
