Mesquite residents may be eligible for help with home repairs following winter storm

The winter storms are over, but they left behind burst pipes, collapsed ceiling and broken HVAC systems.

Some Mesquite homeowners are eligible for financial assistance as part of the city’s Emergency Home Repair Assistance Program.

Homeowners can apply for help with plumbing problems such as burst pipes and water heaters; electrical issues; roofs and HVAC repairs. Other issues, like flooring and appliances, are also eligible but considered lower priority, according to the application.

The federally funded program is available through Community Development Block Grants. To qualify, a single occupant would need to have a household income of less than $48,300, or for a family of four, less than $68,950.

Applicants can complete a pre-screen form online to determine eligibility. For more information, call the city’s Department of Community Services at 972-329-8332.

Mesquite is preparing for potholes as the snow and ice melt on city streets.
