New option for local veterans looking for help with home renovations

HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) — If you’re a veteran in need of home repairs, there’s a new option for getting some help if you live in Northeast Missouri.

Officials with NECAC said they’ve gotten a $75,000 grant that could help over 30 veterans who are home owners with issues they want to address.

NECAC officials said in the past they’ve used funds to help veterans put in walk in showers or accessibility ramps.

“We’re really putting it together with our self help program, so we can come in teach some skills and help veterans,” said NECAC Deputy Director for Housing Development Carla Potts.

“Do the things they need to do to make their home more livable for them.”

She said you can call your local county NECAC office, or (573)-324-6622 to start your application.
