Free assistance for plumbing repairs following winter freeze in February – Crossroads Today

The Victoria County Long-Term Recovery Group was approved for a second grant that will help people across the Crossroads with plumbing issues.

VICTORIA COUNTY, Texas – It’s been a road to recovery after the winter freeze back in February across the state and in the Crossroads.

It impacted the lives of many.

A local organization was recently approved for a grant that will help provide free assistance with plumbing, water heaters and home repairs to residents.

Rick Villa with the Victoria County Long-Term Recovery Group said there is an application process people need to go through to qualify.

Villa said there is a current waitlist, but they are doing the best they can to assist all people who are still recovering from the winter freeze.

“It’s for everyone … we don’t do any income eligibility on this particular assistance … this one for winter storm, we just ask you complete the intake information,” said Villa. “We will also ask you for some documentation because these funders, they ask for documentation, photographs, so be prepared to provide paperwork and photos.”

The group not only assists residents who live in Victoria County through their grants, but also Lavaca, Jackson, Calhoun, Gonzales and Goliad counties.

“After Winter Storm Uri, [grant opportunity was told to us] for $110,000 to help this region with disaster recovery efforts,” shared Villa in an email. “I wrote a grant proposal to be used for homeowners/renters in the Golden Crescent region: The CDP Texas Winter Storms Recovery Fund is being used for personnel ($16,428), plumbing supplies/tools ($10,000), water heaters ($10,000), plumbing charges from contractors ($73,572).”

For more information, you can email Villa at rick.villa.vcltrg@gmail.com or call 361-894-6264.

Villa also mentioned that VCLTRG has free cordless mini blinds available.

You can call or email the same contact information provided to ask for the free mini blinds.
