Toronto to open final three mass COVID-19 vaccination clinics tomorrow | News – Daily Hive

The City of Toronto will open its final three mass COVID-19 vaccination clinics next week.

The sites at Cloverdale Mall, North Toronto Memorial Community Centre, and Carmine Stefano Community Centre will open on April 12, the city announced on Sunday.

Residents who are aged 60 or older, as well as those who are aged 50 and older from virus hot spots, will be able to receive a COVID-19 vaccine at the clinics.

“The sooner we are vaccinated, the sooner we can bring this pandemic to an end. So, please get your shot when it is your turn,” Mayor John Tory said.

Once the new sites open on Monday, all nine of Toronto’s mass immunization clinics – the “backbone” of the city’s vaccination rollout – will be in operation.

The other clinics are located at Malvern Community Recreation Centre, The Hangar in North York, and Mitchell Field Community Centre.

The Metro Convention Centre, Toronto Congress Centre, and Scarborough Town Centre also play host to vaccination sites.

According to the city, the nine clinics have the combined capacity to administer more than 10,000 vaccine doses per day, based on anticipated supply.

Capacity can be increased if additional doses become available from the federal government.

“Our top priority is getting shots into the arms of the most vulnerable in our city, as quickly as possible,” said Councillor Joe Cressy, the Chair of the Board of Health.

“Vaccines are how we beat this pandemic, and I urge all Torontonians who are currently eligible to make an appointment to get vaccinated today.”

To date, Toronto has seen 124,234 COVID-19 cases and 2,862 virus-related deaths.
