New Delhi: North-East Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari will take out a Rath Yatra to collect contributions from all the sections of society for the construction of grand Ram temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya.

Tiwari will begin the ‘Sri Ram Janmbhumi Nirman Nidhi Abhiyan’ in his constituency, which was hit by riots last year, from February 1, which is also his birthday.

“I will reach out to all sections of the society to collect their contribution for a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya. There are several brothers and sisters from minority community also who wish to contribute and I will go to their houses, shops and establishments,” said Tiwari.

He added that albeit there is no set target amount to collect, yet it will be a “substantial” one as it is the dream of crores of people to see Ram temple in Ayodhya in their lifetime.

In February 2020, the northeast Delhi areas had witnessed communal violence that left more than 50 people dead.

As per the BJP MP’s aide, Tiwari will take out a Rath Yatra in an improvised vehicle that will have a huge picture of the proposed Ram temple.

“We are not putting any target for collection of the fund but it will run into several crores,” claimed Tiwari’s aide.

The Delhi BJP will begin its door-to-door campaign for collecting donations for the Ram temple from February 1.

According to Kuljeet Chahal, the Delhi BJP general secretary and convener of the campaign, “coupons of Rs 10, 100 and 1000 will be used for the collection of donations from as many households as possible.”

If anyone wants to contribute more than Rs 1,000, one has to do so through cheques.

East Delhi BJP MP Gautam Gambhir had recently donated Rs one crore for construction of the Ram temple.
