Virgin Orbit air-launched a rocket from a soaring Boeing 747

There’s a major new player in the space launch  game, resuscitating the almost ancient method of launching rockets from planes. Richard Branson’s Virgin Orbit successfully released a payload of 10 cubesats – small research satellites – into orbit, paving the way for future commercial missions.
